Toddler

Toddlers (ages 18 through 30 month) are thoroughly involved in building a sense of autonomy, learning to explore boundaries and to master new skills on their own.  This energetic period of development leads to unique personal needs that often appear challenging to adults, but are viewed as exciting and expected areas of growth to teachers.  The role of the teacher for this age is to thoughtfully provide activities that increase the toddler’s sense of capability by providing challenges that interest and inspire thought and participation for the child.  Together the teacher and child explore what it means to be part of a group that cares for others, for one’s self, and for the things around them.
